Offline TIA project scanning only

HQ Scan uses TIA Openness to read PLCs, DBs, symbols, comments, data types, addresses, and access metadata from the project, then produces a reviewable list.

Scope

Scope: Offline TIA project scanning only

HQ Scan reads only projects or archives that the local TIA Portal installation can open. It does not scan through a PLC IP, OPC UA, or another live protocol.

The engineering file is the point source

HQ Scan uses TIA Openness to read PLCs, DBs, symbols, comments, data types, addresses, and access metadata from the project, then produces a reviewable list.

No live PLC connection

The scanner does not accept a PLC IP or OPC UA endpoint as a source, read live values, write devices, or perform continuous collection.

A matching TIA environment is required

Run the scan on a Windows engineering machine or VM with the matching TIA Portal version and valid Openness permissions.

The scan focuses on DB points

The result focuses on symbolic addresses, data types, and reviewable address metadata. Map input, output, or memory-area variables explicitly in the project or handle them in a separate list.
